I came back home earlier than usual this afternoon and turned on the TV. Then some words I haven't heard of got to my ears. The word is "travel doctor". The story was so impressive that I'll keep it here not to forget.
According to the program, Mr Ito comes from a long line of doctors. He started a wonderful project which gives a massive positive impact on someone's life. The project is to help those who are thought to be impossible to get out of the hospital, to go to the place the patients want to visit. To start the business, he gained the license of a care worker, learned how to make a website, and even obtained a driving license for a specially ordered car which allows the patient to feel comfortable with the spacious room. He collected money for making the car through cloud funding.
The program featured a female client who ordered Mr Ito a job. She wanted to take her father to Aomori, where he had made a lot of beautiful memories. But he was bedridden and almost gave up the dream. Then she knew about the "travel doctor" and consulted Mr Ito. He organized a special team including a nurse and a care worker. They supported him all the time during the traveling. Mr Ito himself drove the car. Thanks to their exceptionally attentive care, her father could see a friend of his. The scene of their reunion was so touching. The man passed away three weeks after the traveling. The female client was so content with the traveling and really appreciated Mr Ito for his help.
The reason why I've decided to keep this is because I thought his way of working embodies one of the ideal forms of working. He is 34 years old, the same age as me!
I also have to be someone who can make a difference in the life of people in need.
